Webcomic Cover and Release Date!

Over the (still ongoing) lockdown, I’ve been working on my webcomic and eventually got enough pages to get a well enough backlog to balance work and breaks! I’m planning to do a once a week post for pages but for the release day, I’m planning to release three pages.

So what’s this comic about again? The story is about a young (and beginning) artist trying to find a spark after losing everything. Oh, and also he’s trying to convince his friends that he isn’t an artist.

When’s the release date? Its on January 11, 2021! It falls on a very “special” (and personal!) anniversary and I felt like it would be right to start this new project off here.

Also, here’s the the cover for the webcomic! It features our main little bundle of joy, Jacob. He’s looking up at something and leaning on a fence that separates him from the ground and the fall of a steep drop. Hopefully he wont fall off. I wouldn’t want him to get hurt!

It’s been quite a wild ride, and even if I started this off later than I could’ve hoped for, I’m more than glad to share this story for you all. See you on Monday!

Lowkey F 2020

Its been a while.

Too much of a while

While I wished I could have followed the schedule as it was, undeniably 2020 felt like four years in the span of one. I had to focus on the pandemic and calling for our government to do something right for once during the pandemic (They never did anything right, by the way.). At the same time, I had to focus on my mental health after traumatizing events at the start of the year. It was not a kind year for everyone.

Had to momentarily keep this project in the backburner longer than I hoped for, but this year I’m targeting to get this project going this year. 2020 was really a mess, but 2021 looks more like hopeful baby steps in this pandemic.

That’s not to say I haven’t been doing anything last 2020…

I’ve been sneaking in some drawing here and I’ve got a handful of pages for this year! For sure, 2021 is an absolutely feasible target.

Thank you for staying for the ride, and I hope this year will be much better than the last!

Glass Half Full

Hello, its been a while.

Since my last post, everything has gotten extremely the other way. Now we’re all facing a pandemic that, from my point of view, won’t end soon. I didn’t really pick up on you all because its been hard trying to get back into shape after 6 months of trauma. And I would be lying if I said that I was okay. I’m still far from okay, but I am closer to it than months ago.

Still, the show must go on and some stories must be told.

Glad to say, I didn’t stay idle around! Chapter 1 finished writing, and I’m halfway through its thumbnails. The webcomic is currently on track to be out within this year, and to be frank, I am both excited and nervous — perfectly normal emotions to feel while preparing for something big.

Personal life wise, my mood has been stable lately, stable enough to keep on going with this webcomic. Everything here seems okay, and I have been staying safe. However, I wouldn’t say the same for our brothers and sisters in other places. I want to bring to light the BLM movement in the US, the current Junk Terror Bill movement here in the Philippines, and more recently Hong Kong’s Security Law. Please stay safe out there, guys. The world is getting more and more hard but as I said, the show must go on and we should never stop fighting.

Till the next update. Thank you guys for reading. ❤

Getting there, slowly, but getting there.

Ever since the rough fallout a few days ago, it really threw my schedule off track. I’ve spent my time getting things done and healing.

I drew some things, made a piece for myself, and soon I’ll get back on track perhaps with creating more content. In fact, I’ve tried a few goes at getting motivated in making this project a reality by drawing multiple iterations of Jacob. This one, I want to share.

I hope I’m not hallucinating his voice at this point.

I guess its my own baby boy character telling me to keep it chill. I better follow it so that his story gets told in the best way possible.

Anyway, I’m shooting to get back into production this week.

Thank you for standing by! ❤

Update on some personal stuff

Well, oops.

I haven’t been as active as I thought I would be. Apologies. Unfortunately, life got in the way. Some personal issues happened, and it affected my mental health very negatively. A small break from developing and creating art for the comic had to be taken. It took a week.

I still get anxious triggers from time to time, so it’s still a bumpy ride.

For now, I’d want to let you guys know that I’m okay, and getting my feet back on the ground. I’ll keep the personal one-post-a-week rule of mine shelved until I manage to get the ball rolling again.

Personally, I can’t wait to get back on track. Let’s get this show on the road.

Thank you guys for understanding!

Some schedules, some plans, and a special boy.

Schedules and stories

Hey y’all! It’s been a good 4 days since the last post, and I thought it would be good to leave an update on how things are going!

I’ve set a goal to provide updates for Summer Thaw’s development once a week! The update schedule will be every Saturday! However, school is looming around the corner again, and life may get in the way of things (like studies, homework, and extra-curricular obligations…).

Nothing is stopping me from trying though!

By the way, on the writing side of things, chapter 1 of the story is undergoing final revisions! By the time it’s done, all that’s left to do is finalize the concept art/illustrations, and then we’re good to go!

Speaking of art…

Character reveal!

Time to meet the protagonist! He’ll be your friend from thick and thin, and will always try to help you out in any way he can 😀

Do you care he?

Meet Jacob Lastimodo, a 20 year old small (5’4) wolf. With an aloof and gentle personality, Jacob is laid-back and casual when it comes to problems. Due to his baby face and small stature, others may underestimate him. He values his friends greatly, and would do anything to help them. Aside from his loyalty, another defining factor of Jacob is his eye for art. In fact, he has even taken drawing as a hobby for himself!

If you’ve been following my art for a while now, you’d remember his little guy in some art I’ve posted!

As a bonus, here’s a turnaround shot of Jacob and his colors. Take it as a reference sheet!

What a dashing lad. Very pet-able.

Anyway, any thoughts and comments (and suggestions?). Please let me know!

Till the next update!

First post go! Need a little color in your life?

A young wolf’s room shines bright under different colors.

First of all, welcome to the blog! Its small and simple so far, but I hope you’ll stick around for the ride.

This is a first peek at one of the settings in the world of Summer Thaw. Its a small room, built for one student and his student needs. His window provides a wonderful view of the cliff, and the sun provides beautiful natural light for his humble abode.

Though, perhaps it may add to his disadvantage as it could make his bed uncomfortably hot 😦

A cliff at the end of the road. What could go wrong?

Next one up is at the edge of a cliff. It provides a closer view of the wonderful scenery. Its an empty lot basically, but everyone has its own use for it! We really need more green spaces in real life though. Honestly, pretty happy about how the colors here turned out.

Lastly, is a simple school building. Its a small grade school established by the town university, and it even has volunteer students from that university helping out! Out of all the three sets of color passes, this is the one that really came out wonderful. The atmosphere especially in the lower left color pass knocked my socks off after taking a step back.

By the way, these are also one of the first color passes I’ve done! I’ll get things better slowly by slowly now, but so far, its so good.

Here’s to Summer Thaw, and all the stories in its pages!
